What’s the Difference Between Composite and Porcelain Veneers?
While composite and porcelain veneers can fix many of the same problems, some distinct differences exist.
Understanding Composite Veneers in Tamborine Mountain
A composite veneer is made of the same material that our dentists use for fillings—composite resin, comprised of glass and resin micro-particles.
Our dentists customise composite resin to match your teeth and blend seamlessly with your smile. We can use the mouldable material to cover or reshape your tooth and eliminate flaws.
Composite veneers can typically be completed in one appointment and are less expensive than porcelain veneers finished in a dental lab.
How Do Porcelain Veneers Enhance Your Smile?
Porcelain veneers are a permanent solution that uses thin layers of custom-made ceramic porcelain that are directly bonded over the front of your tooth. Our dentists remove a tiny bit of tooth enamel to ensure a snug fit for your veneers.
Porcelain veneers require two bookings and a few weeks to finish. At your first visit, we’ll prepare your tooth for its new restoration and create a temporary veneer for you to wear while the dental lab creates your new restoration. The dental lab may take two to three weeks to finish your veneers.
When they’re ready, you’ll return to Mountain Dental Care to have one of our dentists permanently place them, and then you’ll be off to enjoy your stunning new smile!
